AI & Ethics

How Grant Wizard uses AI responsibly and what you should know.

How AI Is Used in Grant Wizard

Grant Wizard uses AI to accelerate and improve the grant writing process. Here is how AI powers different features:

Grant Search: AI searches the web for currently open grants, verifies deadlines and application status, and ranks results by fit against your organization profile.

Section Drafting: AI generates first-draft answers to grant application questions using your organization profile, uploaded documents, and RFP requirements. Every draft is clearly marked as AI-generated for your review.

Budget Generation: AI creates detailed budget line items based on your narrative, project concept, and funder requirements.

Project Concept Generation: AI analyzes your organization's strengths against funder priorities to suggest strategic project ideas.

Fit Analysis: AI evaluates how well your organization matches a specific grant opportunity.

Human Review Is Essential

AI-generated content is a starting point, not a final product. We strongly recommend:

• Review every draft carefully: AI may miss nuances specific to your organization or project.

• Verify all facts and statistics: AI can occasionally generate plausible-sounding but incorrect information.

• Check citations: Confirm that referenced sources, publications, and data points are accurate and current.

• Customize the voice: Adjust AI drafts to match your organization's tone and communication style.

• Validate budget figures: Ensure all line items reflect your actual costs and project needs.

Funder AI Policies

The use of AI in grant applications is an evolving topic. Some important considerations:

• Check funder guidelines: Some funders have explicit policies about AI use. Always review the grant guidelines before submitting.

• Disclosure: When a funder requires disclosure of AI assistance, be transparent about your use of AI tools.

• Originality matters: Funders value authentic proposals that demonstrate genuine understanding of the problem and your unique approach.

• AI as a tool: Think of Grant Wizard as a highly capable writing assistant, not a replacement for your team's expertise and domain knowledge.

Data Privacy & Security

Your data is handled with care:

• Your data stays yours: Organization profiles, documents, and proposals are used only to generate content for your account.

• No cross-training: Your proprietary information is not used to train AI models or improve results for other users.

• Secure storage: All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and stored on secure servers.

• Access control: Only your team members (with your explicit invitation) can access your proposals and organization data.

• Deletion: You can request account deletion at any time. After a 30-day recovery period, all data is permanently removed.

Limitations & Accuracy

AI is powerful but not perfect. Be aware of these limitations:

• Knowledge gaps: AI may not have the latest information about newly announced grants or recent policy changes.

• Context understanding: AI interprets your organization profile as provided. Incomplete profiles lead to less accurate results.

• Grant status: While we verify grant status through web search, application windows can change rapidly. Always confirm directly with the funder.

• Cultural nuance: AI may not fully capture regional, cultural, or sector-specific conventions in grant writing.

• No guarantee of success: AI-assisted proposals improve efficiency but do not guarantee grant approval. Funding decisions depend on many factors beyond proposal quality.

Our Commitment

Grant Wizard is committed to responsible AI use:

• Transparency: We clearly identify AI-generated content and provide tools for you to review and edit everything.

• Continuous improvement: We regularly update our AI models and prompts to improve accuracy and reduce errors.

• Feedback: Your feedback on AI-generated content directly helps us improve. Use the thumbs up/down buttons to rate results.

• Ethical development: We design features that augment human expertise rather than replace it.
